DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

No, Charleston Educational Services is not in-network with any insurance company. All services are self pay. Charleston Educational Services does not file insurance; however, a detailed bill is provided to families who obtain a Psychoeducational Evaluation so that clients might file claims independently. Clients are advised to contact their insurance company before beginning the evaluation process if they are planning to seek reimbursement.

My child was tested three or more years ago and we are being told we need a new evaluation, can you help with this?

Psychoeducational evaluations are typically conducted every three years to ensure that a student's educational needs are accurately identified and met. Here are some key reasons why this timeline is generally followed: identifying changes, updating accommodations and supports, legal requirements, early intervention or transitional ages, and progress monitoring over time.
Evaluation results provide valuable information for parents and teachers to collaborate effectively in supporting the student's learning and development. Overall, the three-year timeline strikes a balance between assessing a student's progress and allowing sufficient time for meaningful changes in educational planning and intervention strategies. We will ask that you share previous private or school based evaluations.

WHAT IS EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING COACHING?

Executive Function skills are the underlying brain processes that help people manage their everyday lives. Executive Function skills are essential for completing tasks, managing time, controlling emotions, achieving goals, and so much more. Coaching establishes an understanding of Executive Function skills, teaches coping strategies to improve self-regulation, and provides interventions to incorporate in daily routines. These sessions are designed to help achieve academic success, overcome behavioral challenges, and strengthen relationships. Executive Functioning Coaching is individualized to meet a child's specific needs using evidence based interventions and tools.

WHAT COMMITMENT IS NEEDED FOR EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONNING COACHING AND WHAT IS THE INVESTMENT?

After the initial session, EF Coaching sessions are scheduled on a month to month commitment. Some children come weekly, while others utilize this support on a biweekly basis. For example, a child who is struggling with managing deadlines, work completion, organization, task initiation, and study skills may come weekly. Another child who is targeting self-regulation strategies and social skills may come bi-weekly. The family's needs, school schedules, extracurricular activities, additional supports, and the child's age are taken into account when determining an appropriate level of Coaching.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

I only have one specific concern for my child (i.e. reading, math, ADHD) . Do we still need a full evaluation?

A comprehensive psychoeducational evaluation is beneficial even if you have one specific concern because it provides a thorough assessment of various cognitive, academic, and emotional factors that may be interconnected or contributing to your concern. This holistic approach helps identify underlying issues, strengths, and weaknesses that may not be immediately apparent, leading to more accurate diagnosis and tailored interventions to address the root cause effectively. Additionally, it ensures that any potential co-existing conditions or factors impacting learning and development are identified early on, facilitating informed decision-making and appropriate support strategies to optimize educational and personal growth.

I'M INTERESTED IN EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING COACHING, HOW DO WE GET STARTED?

An initial session is offered to provide families the opportunity to meet the coach. During this initial session we will discuss as a team, with parent and child input, the behavioral and academic strengths and challenges. Parents are dismissed approximately 40 minutes into the session to allow the child and clinician to build rapport, answer questions, and reflect on personal strengths and challenges across settings. This process helps guide goals and activities for future sessions which incorporate parent and child feedback, and the clinician's expertise.
